Palak Vani's Story:

During my undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, I began volunteering at Ele’s Place, which holds bereavement support groups for children and adolescents who have lost a loved one. I felt something from within when I volunteered at Ele’s Place. I absolutely loved empowering individuals to progress and learn about themselves. This feeling is what convinced me to practice mental health. I received my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and then went on to work in a variety of settings, such as partial hospitalization and private practice. While working in these settings, I noticed that the stigma associated with receiving mental health services still exists in many ways. I began to develop a passion to de-stigmatize mental health and to educate as many people as I can about mental health. I post frequently about anxiety on my own social media accounts in an effort to educate others about various types of anxiety and to help others feel as if they are not alone. I also recently launched an anxiety coaching company, Curated Goals, which assists individuals with their anxiety over the phone, email, text message or in person. My mission is to help individuals understand that anxiety is common, normal and can be reduced with the most effective techniques. Mental health is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I believe that the individuals who receive help for mental health concerns exhibit strength. So if you’re struggling, GET HELP! And I’m always here to listen & help, so please feel free to reach out to me at any time!
