Humza Mian a.k.a MangHoe Lassi's Story:

My biggest inspiration to help and encourage South Asian people to be open about their mental health issues, especially those who identify as being queer, is the progress I've made with my own struggle growing up gay in a South Asian Muslim household. I had no queer role models to look up to in my childhood, and although looking up to women is pretty amazing as a replacement, it's not the same. I hope to be that light for young queer South Asians and living proof that all the identities that you're attached to can co-exist in one body. I also encourage Desi men to express their femininity, however "extreme" it may be, to help break down the archaic system of toxic masculinity that we've been told to adhere to all of our lives. This can be as simple as allowing yourself to cry and letting people know how you're feeling, or going all out and living your life as a part time Desi Drag Queen ;) Sound familiar? Hahah!
