Jaswinder Randhawa's Story:
I found from an early age I was quite creative and had a instant flare for digital media. Being a kid I felt like i didn’t really have a role model or anyone who understood me. I am grateful for having the courage to pursue what I wanted and thus started my journey in figuring out where I could go in the world of arts. I found having talks with myself and having a supportive father who always stressed the importance of believing allowed me to want to do more. I’ve found suppressing ideas and your feelings is one of the worst ways to deal with things whether it be in expressing yourself, talking about daily pressures of life or voicing your dreams and ambitions. Your voice is important so sharing those ideas and ambitions whether it be to someone or on a piece a paper is what allowed me to take some form of action to get to them. I’d rather be one step closer to my goals than not have moved at all.
I strongly believe having a good support system is vital in combating mental health. A lot of the time I think people have a misconception of mental health just having negative connotations which is just applied to select group of people who suffer from depression or other forms of mental illnesses but we forget we must take care of ourselves and our mental health on a daily basis. Self care is important and applies to everyone which is why surrounding myself with a positive and great bunch of people is of great importance to me. Being able to ask for support whether it be in the form of a conversation or taking a break by doing an activity all helps to un wind.
Kind Regards
